About Anne

Anne Wyatt - Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist, Supervisor and Senior Lecturer (Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training).

I was lucky enough to train at the prestigious Clifton Practice, achieving the Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (DHP) and the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD), considered to be the ‘gold standard’ in hypnotherapy training.  As anyone who has met me will tell you, I am passionate about what I do and continually update my knowledge and skills to provide the most effective, research based and safe support for my clients, ensuring that changes made are sustainable on a long-term basis.   I have since gone on to train as a Supervisor, obtaining a Level 5 diploma awarded by the NCFE and as a result, provide support and supervision to other Solution Focused Hypnotherapists in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire, as well as across the UK.  As a Senior Lecturer for the Clifton Practice Training Schools in Edinburgh and Glasgow, I train students to become future Solution Focused Hypnotherapists. I also provide continual professional development training to qualified Hypnotherapists to keep them up to date with the latest developments in therapeutic skills.    This keeps me right up to date with the very latest research and best practice, ensuring that I can update my way of working whenever required.

I am well known for my love of research and so it is no surprise that my approach is based on the most recent evidence emerging from neuroscience, combined with the very best elements of Solution Focused Therapy techniques, Brain Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Psychology (CBT) and Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP). I have successfully helped children, teenagers and adults with a variety of issues including fear of speaking situations, stammering, phobias, anxiety, depression, irritable bowel syndrome, anger, grief and a variety of addictions including smoking, as reviews from past clients here show.

Having experienced a lengthy period of anxiety and depression myself in the past, I successfully worked through it thanks to Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.  No therapists can ever walk in the shoes of anyone who walks into their therapy room and can never truly experience their daily struggles, but I do have insight from both sides of the conversation.  I know from both professional and personal experience that Solution Focused Therapy and its focus on moving forward rather than dwelling on problems works and keeps on working long after sessions with me come to an end.

Background:

Having spent most of my childhood in the Black Isle, my personal and working life has taken me to Glasgow, Stirling and Plymouth before moving to the beautiful countryside in Aberdeenshire in March 2014.

I graduated with an honours degree in English from Glasgow University, focusing on Linguistics before going on to study at Strathclyde University and qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist.

An 18-year career as an NHS Speech and Language Therapist saw me leading a specialist service for people who stammer in Plymouth. During this time, I worked increasingly with clients who experienced significant levels of anxiety, depression, anger as well as phobias, resulting from their communication difficulties. I realised that often it was these issues and the thought processes around speaking that significantly increased the impact the communication issue itself had on the lives of the clients I was working with.  Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has allowed me to help clients with these issues in a way that I had never been able to do before.

Having established Bon Accord Hypnotherapy, a busy, full time practice in Banchory, near Aberdeen, and seen the life changing benefits of this approach, I decided to terminate my professional registration as a Speech and Language Therapist and therefore no longer practice in this field.

When not working, I enjoy the wonderful Royal Deeside countryside and being close to my extended family again. I live with my partner Paul and our cats, Iona and Skye and enjoy my hobbies –playing the flute and piccolo and creating all sorts of things out of glass. If you keep an eye out, you might even see touring the countryside on my trike, currently a Yamaha Virago 1100.
