When you contact me through my website, by phone or by email, I collect:

• Your telephone number
• Any information you choose to share about your enquiry

I use this information to respond to you, discuss your needs and determine whether Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is appropriate. I may also review this information to help improve my services.

If you choose to book an appointment, you will be asked for further information during the Initial Consultation. This provides the information needed to support a safe effective therapy approach.

This may include

• Your name, address, email, and telephone number
• Your GP details and relevant health information
• A next‑of‑kin or emergency contact (used only in urgent situations)
• Your preference regarding receiving required correspondence related to our work together.

During sessions, I make brief notes of information you provide to help plan future work and tailor therapeutic content.

I process personal information in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection and Digital Information Act (DUAA, 2025). I only collect and use information that is necessary for safe, ethical, and effective therapy.

Your information is confidential. I only share it when:

• legally required,
• requested under recognised legitimate interests (e.g., public safety),
• there is an immediate safeguarding concern, or
• you provide explicit consent (e.g., sharing with another healthcare professional).

Outside these circumstances, your information remains confidential.

I do not sell or pass your information to any organisation for marketing purposes.

Legitimate Interests

My primary lawful basis is legitimate interests. This means I process information only when it is needed for therapeutic work and when doing so has minimal impact on your privacy.  I regularly review the information I collect to ensure it remains necessary, proportionate, and aligned with current legislation.

To meet this requirement:

• Purpose: Information is collected to provide hypnotherapy services, communicate with you, and maintain appropriate records.
• Necessity: I only collect information essential for therapy, such as contact details, relevant health information, and safeguarding information.
• Balance: I avoid collecting information that is not required.

The lawful basis of legitimate interests apply when personal information may need to be shared for reasons such as protecting public safety. If a statutory organisation (e.g., police) requests information for a recognised legitimate interest, I may provide it without carrying out a separate balancing test. The organisation requesting the information is responsible for determining necessity.

Information may be stored securely in password‑protected digital files. Paper notes are kept in a locked cabinet and destroyed securely when no longer required. Digital information is held on encrypted devices and backed up securely.
